I am interested in the information transmission devices of these works, the arrival of different types of visual tools to the English print, and the availability of these visuals to the English readership. The material is very fruitful, and during the last few months, while working on an article on the topic, I have published a blog post and held several talks on the various side tracks the materials inspired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The blog post, titled <a href=\"https:\/\/ramusvirens.home.blog\/2024\/03\/04\/renaissance-diagrammatics-and-the-english-tartaglia\/\">Renaissance diagrammatics and the English Tartaglia<\/a>, was published in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/ramusvirens.home.blog\/\">Ramus Virens<\/a><\/em>, a medieval studies blog of University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4. In January, I participated in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oulu.fi\/fi\/tapahtumat\/1500-ja-1600-lukujen-tutkimuksen-paivat\">1500- ja 1600-lukujen tutkimuksen p\u00e4iv\u00e4t<\/a> in Oulu, organised by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uudenajanalku.fi\/\">Uuden ajan tutkimuksen verkosto<\/a>. My presentation, titled &#8220;Cyprian Lucar, Niccol\u00f2 Tartaglia ja ihmiskeho soveltavan matematiikan visualisaatioissa&#8221; (Cyprian Lucar, Niccol\u00f2 Tartaglia, and the use of the human body in visualizations of applied mathematics), focused on the use of human figure as a part of geometric objects in the English translation of Tartaglia&#8217;s <em>Quesiti et inventioni diverse<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March, I spoke at the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/avhclubfinnland\/humboldt-kolleg-ver%C3%A4nderung-helsinki-13-15-3-2024\">Humboldt Kolleg<\/a>, an event intended for the dissemination of information across disciplines organized by <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/avhclubfinnland\/alexander-von-humboldt-club-finnland?authuser=0\">Alexander-von-Humboldt-Club Finnland<\/a>. The presentation, titled &#8220;Graphicacy and the Military Revolution in sixteenth-century England&#8221; discussed the influence &#8211; or the lack thereof &#8211; of the military revolution on the practices of military publishing in sixteenth-century England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9836b908c010aaf5aea86305ec9e6c45\">\ud83d\udd9d Remember to keep an eye out for the call for papers for the EModGraL conference!
