The two-day event kicked off on 14 March with a visit to the Port of Muuga and a joint dinner later on. Conference itself started on 15 March.<\/p>\n<p>Filled with guests speakers giving their insights on the port safety and security issues utilising their expertise, the stage was taken by an impressive line-up including i.a. Mr.\u00a0Bogdan O\u0142dakowski, Secretary General of BPO, Mr. Markku Mylly, former Executive Director of EMSA, Mr. Christoper Ross, European Commission Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, Mr. Peter Johansson, Rescue Director at\u00a0Eastern-Uusimaa Emergency Services Department and Ms. Tiia Lohela, Special Advisor of\u00a0The European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats. This easy-access tool provides based on user selections methods to assess and mitigate risks at ports. At the conference, toolbox was introduced by Professor Wolfgang Kersten.\u00a0 The toolbox can be accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/hazard.logu.tuhh.de\/hazard-toolbox\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogit.utu.fi\/hazard\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2019\/03\/6_HAZARD-FC_Wolfgang-Kersten.pdf\"><strong>Risk Management in Seaports<\/strong> by Wolfgang Kersten, Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. &amp; Ayman Nagi, M.Sc., MBA, Hamburg University of Technology<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The conference programme also included the unveiling of two HAZARD studies conducted as Master&#8217;s theses at University of Turku. Foresight Study on Transport and Logistics in the Baltic Sea Region by 2030 was conducted by Mr. Eeli Friman at University of Turku and more can be read from <a href=\"https:\/\/blogit.utu.fi\/hazard\/foresight-study-on-transport-and-logistics-in-the-baltic-sea-region-by-2030\/\">the news article<\/a>. Another HAZARD study was conducted by Ms. Sari Kokkila also at University of Turku. This study ranked the North European ports authorities&#8217; websites according to content and usability criteria, focusing on the safety and security issues. Top 5 positions were held by, in ascending order, Ports of Tallinn, Pori, Rauma, Dover\/Folkestone &amp; Helsinki.
