MKK
Merenkulkualan koulutus- ja tutkimuskeskus (MKK) on merenkulkualan moniosaaja. Tutkimme ja tuotamme uutta tietoa merenkulkualan päätöksenteon tueksi, tarjoamme ajankohtaista täydennyskoulutusta ja konferensseja merenkulkualan ammattilaisille.
Olemme tunnettuja laadukkaiden ajankohtaisten seminaarien ja koulutusten järjestäjänä. Näillä alan erityiskysymyksiin pureutuvilla keskustelufoorumeilla kohtaavat merenkulun ja meriklusterin asiantuntijat. Tilaisuuksissamme tarjoamme ajantasaista ja käytäntöön sovellettavaa tietoa tiiviinä paketteina. Täydennyskoulutuksemme suunnitellaan elinkeinoelämän tarpeiden pohjalta ja ne on suunnattu työelämässä oleville. Järjestämme koulutuksia myös tilauksesta, juuri teille räätälöitynä.
Osallistumme myös kansainvälisiin merenkulkualan koulutuksen kehittämishankkeisiin ja merenkulun oppimateriaalin tuottamiseen.
Teemme tutkimusta merenkulun, meriteollisuuden ja logistiikan aloilla sekä tarjoamme käytännöllistä ja sovellettavaa tietoa tuottavia tutkimus- ja asiantuntijapalveluita meriklusterin toimijoille.
MKK on perustettu vuonna 1980. Turun yliopiston erillislaitoksena olemme toimineet vuodesta 1984. Nykyään toimimme osana Turun yliopiston Brahea-keskusta. Voit lukea lisää toiminnastamme sivuilta utu.fi/mkk
Turun yliopiston hallitus on päättänyt lakkauttaa Turun yliopiston Brahea-keskuksen toiminnot osana yliopiston talouden tasapainottamisohjelmaa. Lakkauttamistoimet ovat käynnissä vaiheittain seuraavien viikkojen aikana.
Kaikkien Brahea-keskuksen käynnissä olevien hankkeiden osalta Turun yliopisto huolehtii hankkeiden rahoitus- ja sopimusvelvoitteiden toteuttamisesta, projektien koordinoinnista ja osatoteutuksesta, vaikka keskus lakkautetaan. Myös hankkeiden rahoituksen saajana säilyy edelleen Turun yliopisto.
Brahea-keskuksen lakkauttaminen liittyy Turun yliopiston talouden tasapainottamisohjelmaan, jossa pyritään vuoteen 2028 mennessä korjaamaan 15 miljoonan euron rahoitusvaje. Rahoitusvajeen syynä on muun muassa yliopiston opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön rahoitusmallin perusteella saaman perusrahoituksen pitkäaikainen vähentyminen. Turun yliopiston hallitus päätti säästöistä ja lisätulojen hankkimisesta 14.2.2023.

Centre for Maritime Studies
Centre for Maritime Studies (CMS) is an international education and research centre. We offer further education, research services and conferences in the maritime field, logistics and other related fields.
We organise a number of courses and conferences yearly. All our events are planned according to the specific needs of the maritime field, and they are mainly aimed at people already in working life.
Continuing education courses and personnel training programmes can also be tailored to suit the particular needs of a client. We have arranged courses for companies outside of Finland. If you are interested, contact us!
Our conferences, both national and international, offer a special forum for the maritime and logistics professionals to meet.
We focus on high quality research. The results are always presented in such a way that our clients can make use of them in the most efficient manner.

The University Board of the University of Turku has decided to discontinue the operations of the Brahea Centre as part of the University’s Financial Balancing Programme. The process of terminating the operations is moving on in stages over the next few weeks.
For all the ongoing projects of the Brahea Centre, the University of Turku will take care of the funding and contractual obligations as well as project coordination and partial realisation, even though the Centre is discontinued. The University of Turku will also continue as the recipient of the project funding.
The discontinuation of the Brahea Centre is related to the Financial Balancing Programme of the University of Turku which aims to balance the €15 million funding deficit by 2028. The deficit has been caused by, among other things, a long-term decrease in the University’s core funding which is based on the funding model of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The University Board of the University of Turku decided on savings and acquisition of additional income on 14 February 2023.
