Conducting Oil Spill Combating Training with State-of-the-art Maritime Simulators<\/em><\/strong> report is an output of the OIL SPILL Group of Activities 3.4 that focuses on maritime simulation training. This workgroup is led by the Estonian Maritime Academy<\/strong> of Tallinn University of Technology. The Marine Research Institute of Klaip\u0117da University<\/strong> participates in the activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report gives an insight into the maritime simulators and the idea behind the planned oil spill response exercises to be conducted on these simulators during the OIL SPILL project. The small-scale training held on 21 May 2020 is summarized, and the opportunities and future possibilities to have joint simulator exercises between several centers are also discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kadi Kasep\u00f5ld<\/strong>, OIL SPILL project manager at Tallinn University of Technology, is already looking forward to organizing the next simulator training event with the partners from Klaip\u0117da:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe oil spill simulator exercises are considered a good complementary training option besides table-top and live field exercises for the experts active in the field. Hopefully, these training events can be organized more regularly in the future and \u2013 why not \u2013 maybe even jointly through a virtual network with several participating simulator centers across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
