The conference takes place in the buildings of Educarium and Publicum, University of Turku<\/a> (Assistentinkatu 5 and 7, 20014 University of Turku, 20500 Turku) and at the Life on a Leaf house<\/a> (Pikisaarentie 4, 20900 Turku).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration will take place at Publicum on Thursday 24 April. It is also the site of the first keynote and of several panels. Coffee and snacks during breaks will be served in Publicum in the lobby of the first floor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the map below, Educarium is indicated by the arrow on the left and Publicum by the arrow on the right. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are both easily reachable by foot from the city centre or using local buses (F\u00f6li). An adult ticket costs 3\u20ac15 and is valid for two hours. The nearest bus stop from the city is on H\u00e4meenkatu (Yliopisto\/TYKS U-SAIRAALA \/\/ University\/TYKS University Hospital).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are travelling in to Turku from another city in Finland, the nearest train station is Kupittaa. Buses stop at Tuomiokirkko (Cathedral). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internet<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The University of Turku is part of the Eduroam network. If you already use Eduroam in your home University, your appliances should connect automatically anywhere on Campus. Support for Eduroam is available here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors to the University of Turku can also use the UTU Visitor wireless network<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select UTU Visitor from the list of available wireless networks and connect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will open the registration page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the registration page, you must enter your name, email address, and accept the terms of use. The following screen will show your account information. You are now automatically logged into the network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your credentials are valid on up to two separate devices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that your credentials are only valid for 8 hours. After this time you will need to register again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinner<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dinner on Thursday 24 April will be hosted at Tiirikkala, Linnankatu 3, 20100 Turku, at 18:00-20:00. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will walk from the campus to the restaurant at 17:30. If you are arriving separately, the location of the restaurant is indicated by the blue arrow below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting to Hirvensalo, Friday 25th<\/sup> April<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Taxis have been arranged for conference participants at 8:50 on the morning of Friday 25th April. These taxis will depart from Rothoviuksenkatu next to the Cathedral (indicated by the green arrow on the map below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you wish to make your own way to Life on a Leaf on Friday morning, local bus lines 53 and 53A run regularly to Hirvensalo from the city centre. The correct stop for Life on a Leaf is Kutterintie. Tickets can be bought from the driver (contactless payment) or the F\u00f6li<\/a> mobile app. Tickets cost 3\u20ac15 (4\u20ac15 23:00-04:00). Travel time is 20-30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travelling to Turku<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Turku is located in southwest Finland and is connected by air to Stockholm, Riga and Gda\u0144sk. If you are arriving to Turku airport, local bus line no. 1 runs regularly to the city centre. Tickets can be bought from the driver (contactless payment) or the F\u00f6li<\/a> mobile app. Tickets cost 3\u20ac15 (4\u20ac15 23:00-04:00). Travel time is 20-30 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants arriving from outside Finland may find it more convenient to fly to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. From here, Turku is well connected by train and bus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By bus: At the airport, follow signs for the bus station (a picture of a bus). Tickets can be bought from the driver or in advance from the Matkahuolto<\/a> website. Travel time is around 2,5 hours. Inform the driver of your destination. Bus journeys may be direct or they may involve 1 change. This involves disembarking from the bus in a lay-by at Turvesolmu and getting onto a second bus (usually a wait of up to 5 minutes). Do not wander off. <\/strong>The second bus will collect you from the same position and the bus drivers will handle any luggage. Buses stop at the bus station (select ‘Turku’ or ‘Turku bus station’) and at ‘Turku Tuomiokirkko’ (Cathedral).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By train: At the airport, follow signs for the railway station (a picture of a train). The train station is underneath the airport and can be reached by escalators or lifts. Trains to Turku do not run directly from the airport but from Pasila. Take the commuter train P from Helsinki Airport to Pasila and then change to the intercity service to Turku. Tickets can be bought from a machine on the platform or online, from vr.fi<\/a>. Select ‘Helsinki Airport’ as the departure station. There are three stations in Turku: ‘Turku (City Centre, Logomo)’, Kupittaa (Turku)’ and ‘Turku Port’. Please check which station you require. Travel time is around 2,5 hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turku is also connected to Stockholm and Tallinn by ferry. Local bus line no. 1 runs regularly from the harbour (Satama) to the city centre. Tickets can be bought from the driver (contactless payment) or the F\u00f6li<\/a> mobile app. Tickets cost 3\u20ac15 (4\u20ac15 23:00-04:00). Travel time is 10-20 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that Turku is a bilingual city. Some signs may indicate Turku and\/or \u00c5bo. Never fear. They are the same place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
