Academy of Korean Studies (AKS, 한국학중앙연구원) fellowships:
- Graduate Fellowship (the March 2019 announcement) for master’s program students; 6 months (Sept–Feb or March–Aug); airfare, W750,000/month stipend; on-campus dorm free of charge/period 6 months (announced usually twice a year; many CEAS students have gotten this fellowship)
- MA and Ph.D. program fellowships (the April 2019 announcement) in the Graduate School of Korean Studies; tuition fees waived, monthly stipend of W500,000 (MA program) or W750, 000 (PhD program) for the most competent students; free Korean language classes, on-campus dorm KRW 543,000/semester
- AKS Summer Program for International Students (the Jan 2019 announcement), a 3-week program with lectures on Korea, language training, excursions, and cultural activities; the program covers teaching, accommodation and meal expenses, round-trip travel to Korea and AKS not covered
Korea Foundation fellowships:
- Korean Language Training Fellowship; 6 < months; monthly stipend W1000,000 (up to master’s candidates or holders) or 1,200.000 (Ph.D. candidates or higher); travel allowance W300,000; language program fees waived, travel insurance; deadline end of July or Aug for the following year (the announcement for 2019 fellowships)
- Graduate Studies Fellowship; granted by region (Europe, North America etc); the 2017 spring KF Grad Student Fellowship announcement for Europe; 1 year (Sept–Aug); MA students €9,000/year, Ph.D. students €15,000/year (not a scholarship to go to Korea but to be used in one’s country of study); appl. deadline usually in March–April
- Fellowship for Field Research (for Ph.D. candidates and established scholars); W2–5 mil/month stipend (depending on position) (the announcement for 2019); application deadline around Aug
- Postdoctoral Fellowship; 12 months; deadline for Europe March/April (the spring 2018 announcement for Europe, deadline April 16, 2018)
