OIL SPILL Project presented at Response Working Group meeting of HELCOM, in Warsaw, Poland, 3–5 June 2019
OIL SPILL Project was presented at the 26th Meeting of the Response Working Group of HELCOM in Warsaw on 3–5 June 2019. Presenting OIL SPILL to HELCOM was a particularly successful venture, raising awareness of the project and, in parallel, providing the project exposure among top-level decision makers in maritime affairs in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR).
What was established in the meeting was that the bilateral exchange of information and active, smooth communication between OIL SPILL Project Partners and HELCOM is essential in guaranteeing successful dissemination of project activities and outputs along the BSR nations and in anchoring the project with HELCOM, where central actors from each BSR nation are represented.
In the meeting it was decided that OIL SPILL Partner Ministry of the Environment of Estonia will act as the main link in communication between the project and HELCOM. Other issues discussed were how HELCOM would be better notified of future project preparations in order to enhance the planning process and to map developmental needs more thoroughly.
