The ZeroCarbon Food Webs is a research network which provides a multidisciplinary forum to bring together junior and senior scholars from various backgrounds studying e.g. responsible and healthy food, carbon neutral food, food chemistry and food development, food chain management, responsible business management, consumer research, responsible consuming, and global environmental challenges. The purpose of the network is to launch new multidisciplinary research on carbon-neutral food production as well as on the responsible consumption.
Network provides resources for scholars in the form of active scholarly collaboration and collaboration with Finnish industry. Its activities comprise open research events such as ZeroCarbon Breakfasts and Brunches, and writing, publishing, and research project initiatives. Research projects and publishing initiatives launched by the ZeroCarbon Food Webs will focus on the impacts of carbon-neutral food production and consumption on global environmental challenges which need multidisciplinary research as a solution.
The network’s activities are featured here in the ZeroCarbon Blog, produced jointly by the Research Development Unit personnel, members of the network, and visitors.
The ZeroCarbon Food Webs also provides a Directory of Experts for the benefit of the Climate Leadership Coalition (CLC) and to serve the interests of the public and the media. The aim of the CLC is to affect the Finnish businesses’ and research organisations’ competitiveness and ability to respond to the threats posed by climate change and the scarcity of natural resources, as well as to improve their ability to utilise the business opportunities related to these.
