Early Research Garden launching at EduSpring 2024!

Our collaborative hub will make its first appearance at our faculty’s EduSpring Day (#eduspring). Four research presentations are scheduled. Anitta Melasalmi and Tarja-Riitta Hurme discuss play as a key form of early childhood education, as well as the role of playfulness as a key skill for early childhood education teachers. Anne Sorariutta talks about dialogic reading sessions as an interesting and enjoyable moment of togetherness for adults and children, with implications for the favorable development of children’s cognitive and social skills. Meri Pihanperä is researching the Early Childhood and Teacher Education Centre (ECTEC) Rauman pikkunorssi and explains the meaning of the authentic learning environment in teacher education. Marita Neitola represents their study which demonstrated that the broader the social networks of parents, the more friend young children had both at home and in daycare. And the last presentation will concentrate on young children and problem solving skills among playfull construction tasks. Virpi Yliverronen has been conducting this novel research about young children’s problem solving skills.
