Inese Barbare from Latvian Maritime Academy: OIL SPILL is also a Meeting Platform for Enthusiasts (3/3)

Inese Barbare is responsible for project administration, paperwork, and common welfare of the OIL SPILL project team in Latvia for her primary job is in the Welfare Ministry of Latvia. Below, Inese describes her notions of the project.

“The most impressive feeling for me has been to meet real devotees and enthusiasts during the different project events. For instance, during a project workshop, I see a touchy movie about procedures: how to clean and take care of oiled birds… Or a practical presentation from a voluntary organization that works on a coastline with all those shovels. On these occasions, I have come to realize that only genuinely devoted and energetic individuals can do it. I wish I could be as enthusiastic, too, if such a need arises! In any case, I do my best to forward the project from an administrative point of view.

The seminars and workshops within the project have given me an insight into the essence of different organizations throughout the Baltic Sea Region and their ‘unity in diversity’. Even international organizations with similar names and duties, for instance, the Red Cross, may have a totally different approach to environmental issues and tasks from one country to another. Also I like to acquire new experiences and to learn from our various project partners. Hopefully, I will be consistent in a matter of devotion and energy with all my new friends and colleagues in the project.”
