Methodology

The impact on regions’ competitiveness through coordinated spatial planning and development of ICT and logistics competence is analysed by methods developed by key academic partners (e.g. Wismar University, Linköping University, Hamburg School of Logistics and TSEBA) and available other approaches that have been applied in the BSR.

LogOn Baltic comprises three types of actor in each participating region: (i) Research institutions, such as universities or other institutes that have the needed competence and capacity. They will survey the role of ICT and logistics in regional development among manufacturing and trading firms in the selected region(s). (ii) Logistics and transport associations have important contacts to the businesses that will be the target group of the survey. The associations also have an important role in disseminating the results on national level. (iii) Development agencies and regional authorities provide most of regional finance. They can apply the results in developing the region’s business environment in co-operation with other regional and national development agencies to find efficient solutions supporting spatial integration.
