The sauna has been a remarkable part of culture among CDTE teacher students for a long time. It is our way to gather and spend time together as a community. The student organization of CDTE teacher student studying at Rauma Campus called Rauman TK-Kilta ry had its own sauna in the Artika building previously, but the building was decommissioned in 2013. First time in years there was a situation where we no longer had a sauna at the campus and our sauna culture took a little setback.

As a future professionals of problem solving a group of our CDTE teacher student started dreaming of a proper sauna – after a couple of years of bathing in a half-team tent for example. The year was 2017 when couple of Executive Board Members of Rauman TK-Kilta ry begun to plan the building process of a very new sauna. They recruited the CDTE teacher students needed to build a movable sauna on wheels and started designing the idea together. No one had build anything like that before, but everyone knew something and rest of the information had to be found somewhere else – like internet and YouTube.

Among the first things to do was consulting the Rauma Campuses administration and teachers, because the sauna was to be placed to the campus. The representatives of university wanted the upcoming sauna to fit in the traditional campus milieu, so it had to be taken into account in the designing process. After having all the licence documents needed for the sauna, the building started. The sauna project required a proper space for the building to be done, sponsors to finance the project and also a whole bunch of different tools. The process of handcrafting this sauna took 5 months and 2500 hour of work in total. Opening celebration was held in February 2019.
