Part 1: Introduction and Educarium Gym
Hello all!
It is my great pleasure to announce that we (me and Jonathon) have teamed up to work together on a series of blog articles about CampusSport’s gyms. The idea is quite simple: we will visit different gyms (5 altogether), spend a few days or even weeks at every one of them, and then describe our experiences by listing the positive and negative things. In the first post we will introduce CampusSport: Educarium Gym!
Please keep in mind that we are here to simply make your fitness journey a little bit better. Our goal is to provide you with some valuable insights that hopefully will result in you taking that first step towards a healthier lifestyle, whether you are a beginner or an expert. In case you are not familiar with different workout routines or equipment available at the gym, fear not! CampusSport offers both gym instructors and sports tutors. More information can be found on CampusSport’s social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram.
We will also provide you with visual material, like pictures or perhaps even short videos. As we have heard from other students, it is often difficult to start working out because of not really knowing what to expect when going to a gym. Once again, hopefully, seeing what to expect beforehand will encourage you to explore the opportunities provided by CampusSport.
CampusSport: Educarium Gym
The first gym we tested is called Educarium, located in the first floor of the Faculty of Education. Since the gym is located right on the campus, many students visit the place before starting or after finishing their classes at the university. If you happen to live in Student Village West, this gym will be only 5 minutes walk away from your home, making the location appealing to many students. Moreover, you can also have lunch or dinner at the same building – the cafeteria is literally only a few meters away. There is one changing room for men and three changing rooms for women. Each changing room usually includes four showers and a separate bathroom. A hairdryer is also available. One side note, we have not explored women’s dressing rooms from inside, but it is safe to say that there are no major differences in comparison to male dressing room.
There is not a huge amount of different gym equipment available. However, you can find basic equipment such as a rowing machine, rotary torso, chest press, leg extension and leg press. On the downside, this gym is relatively small and often completely full. As a result, you can usually notice issues with the air-conditioning. Also, the number of lockers, for leaving your personal belongings is limited, and you are required to bring a key yourself.
Until next time!
