Do you want to get to know Finnish cuisine a bit more than just Karelian pasties and cinnamon buns? Is personal experience of moving to Finland, studying at the University of Turku, and living in a student town interesting to you? Do you have any questions you would want to ask current students live out of a formal QA session? With the new project of the University of Turku called “Baking Turku” you will be able to grab a bit of everything.
What does Finland taste like?
You likely know something about Finland, even if you have not ever been there. It is dark and cold, everyone is an introvert, loves heavy metal, drinks pots of coffee, eats weird ice creams, and plays hockey, and the cuisine only has cinnamon buns (korvapuustit), salmon soup (lohikeitto), and potato casserole (perunalaatikko). However, is all of that true?
Life in Finland, just as cuisine, is much more diverse that one can think at first glance. There are peculiarities and hidden jems in Finnish nature, student culture, practicalities, cuisine, and many other things. To reveal all these peculiarities, international students of the University of Turku have created a new project, where you will learn what overalls, approt, speksit, sitsit, and every man’s right are.
