Distress Vessel calling MRCC in Case of a Chemical Leak
The aim of ChemSAR’s Work Package 3 is to develop an e-learning environment for the learning materials created in the project. The learning material for SAR operations in HNS incidents will be created for the use of the project target groups. It will benefit not only the project partners but all relevant authorities, the output/activity will be fully comply with the open access principle.
Serious dangers are involved, and expertise as well as co-operation are called for, when dealing with SAR operations in HNS incidents. Thus we encourage towards increased knowledge and commitment, safer working cultures and co-operational models in the whole Baltic Sea region. The e-learning material created in the project will lead towards common procedures and more effective co-operation in case of HNS incidents.
In the process of developing the e-learning environment, WP3 was filming a test video of a situation, where a distress vessel was calling MRCC. The vessel had a chemical leak on board and 3 persons were contaminated. The video was filmed at the Novia University of Applied Sciences simulator. The video helps to develop and improve the ideas and content of the e-learning material, and the work continues. It will take a while until you will see the outcome..
