The leader of the project is professor of Finnish history at University of Turku Kirsi Vainio-Korhonen.
PhD Kirsi Vainio-Korhonen (b. 1958) has been a professor of Finnish History at University of Turku, Finland since January 2003. She has previously worked as a researcher at the Academy of Finland and as a lecturer in history at University of Turku.
Vainio-Korhonen’s areas of expertise are 18th century and history of cities, and she has published works on goldsmiths, artisans, female entreprenours, female servants, noble women and women’s history. Vainio-Korhonen’s study on countess Sophie Creutz has been published in Swedish by Atlantis.
Vainio-Korhonen was awarded the Scientific Book fo the Year prize in 2012 for her non-fiction book The Unabashed: Midwifery in 18th Century Sweden (published in Finnish) and she was awarded the Svenska Litteratursällskapet Prize for her meritorious research of the cultural history in 2013.
