ChemSAR SOPS for maritime HNS incidents presented to Arctic rescue authorities and services

The Arctic Coast Guard Seminar 2019 took place in Turku as Finland was chairing the Arctic Coast Guard Forum responsible for organising the event. Mr. Teemu Niemelä, Finnish Border Guard, held a presentiation for the Arctic audience on “ChemSAR project – Operational Plans and Procedures for Maritime SAR in HNS Incidents”. The Handbook for maritime SAR in HNS incidents holding all the developed best-practices was distributed in the seminar and it gained a lot of interest and positive feedback. Many countries are going to investigate in which scale they could utilize the ChemSAR procedures in their national guidelines.

All the Arctic countries, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Island, Norway, Russia, Sweden and the United States are members.
