One of the ResQU2 objectives is to increase cooperation and coordination of human and technical resources to enhance more safe and efficient rescue operations. ResQU2 partners have taken stock of the situation in the BSR and come up with an idea of an international coordination group on emergency preparedness. This will be piloted in the diving community. ResQU2 partners will organise a video conference related to the International coordination group on emergency preparedness: Meeting for SAR divers. It will take place on 21 October 2020.
This kind of coordinated management of resources is possible as the Baltic Sea consists of a relatively small area, surrounded by nine countries. If a crisis at sea occurs, more than 90% of the locations can be reached by emergency services within 6-8 hours. Knowledge of and familiarity with each other’s equipment and routines will efficiently save time when arriving at an incident site and also ensure durability over time.
The aim of this video conference is to suggest the international coordinating group as a result to fill the gaps that have already been mapped out in the previous Dive SMART Baltic flagship project. Dive SMART is one of the ResQU2 projects.
